Hi all... Random question, but does anyone know where I could find the statement that Ronald Reagan put out in regards to John Lennon's death? I wrote to the Reagan library, but all of the records between the election and the inaugeration are sealed.

Thank you! :) I've been looking for both of those for awhile, and couldn't find anything other than "Reagan had Lennon assassinated!" theories.

Every so often I need to prove to someone that Reagan didn't want Lennon offed, and so le statement always comes in handy for such things, methinks. :)

Eh, I doubt that some of the people who believe Lennon was off-ed by Reagan aren't even true fans, just conspiracy theorists. Some of them are fans just trying to be exclusive and going, "Lookit you! You're a REPUBLICAN, you can't be a Lennon fan!"

To which I say... bull. I'm one of the biggest Lennon fans on this green Earth (whoo psychedelic rock ye-ah!), and I'm also a damned proud Republican. My response to the whole crap of Reagan (or Nixon, for that matter) having Lennon killed is always similar to yours, "Uh... Why would he do that? Yeah, Lennon was really threatening, being a house-husband for the past five years and releasing Double Fantasy. Oh public enemy number one was he!"

To which they just like to moan and pout. I also have to love the ol' "if you like Lennon, vote for Kerry", to which I say that Lennon, if he were around today, could very well be a Bushie - since he never lived for Reagan's administration, he wouldn't know the new conservatism, so there's no way to tell if he'd agreed with it or not! :)

I wonder what Lennon would say if he knew he would be cut down by a bastard who'd later claim that he should be released because Lennon would be a "liberal". Ugh.

MDC should've been fried.

Hayek?

Ah :) Well, my father is a Nietzchian and a conservative :)

There's a few of us mismatched ones out there. My AP History teacher thinks I'll turn into a liberal.

Yeah, sure. Right.

lol :)

Did you know that for a one-year period Nixon and Lennon lived five minutes away from each other?

Nixon seems to be just about everywhere :) He gets around.

I wonder if he and Lennon ever met up in NYC. I wonder what they'd say.
